Director and instructor Peggy Soomil is originally from New York and is a former member of the Anna Sokolow Dance Company. She formed and directed her own company, then known as The Peggy Cicierska Dance Company, in New York. The company performed in many U.S. cities including Baltimore, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Denver, Boulder, Seattle, Bellingham, Iowa City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and here in Eugene. She has choreographed over 60 works, many of which have been performed across the U.S., Canada and Greece. She brings a wealth of experience from 46 yrs. as a dancer, choreographer and teacher. She has taught at The Juilliard School (NY), the Herbert Berghof Actor's Studio (NY), Western Washington Univ. (WA), Oregon State Univ. (OR), Univ. of Iowa (IA), Univ. of Colorado-Boulder (CO), UCLA (CA), and her own studios in New York and Eugene. She is a graduate of The Juilliard School (B.F.A.), and UCLA (M.A.). Her awards include a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (1973) and a Graduate Fellowship from UCLA (1982).
