Peggy Soomil was influenced as a modern dancer with roots in the New York 1960s’ dance scene. This was the hay day of Modern Dance in America. She participated in Dance Theater Workshop (a hub of creativity and performance), and  studied with Martha Graham,  Jose Limon , Merce Cunningham and Anna Sokolow, who were among the major influences of Modern Dance. She also studied ballet with Alfredo Corvino (Ceccetti (Italian) technique, and other professionals such as Anthony Tudor and Margaret Black.

In the 70’s she traveled across the USA teaching, choreographing, and performing in places such as Cleveland Ohio, as the Artistic Director of the Fairmount Dance Theater; Boulder Colorado, at the University of Colorado; Iowa City, Iowa, as Guest Artist at the University of Iowa; Bellingham WA;  as Associate Professor of Western Washington University; In the 80s’ she taught in Corvallis, Oregon as Assistant Professor at Oregon State University;  Los Angeles, CA as Guest Teacher at UCLA; In the 90s’she taught in Eugene OR  in her own studio, Eugene Modern Dance.

Ms. Soomil offers a classical and rich approach to modern dance. She has studied and been influenced by major players in the field.
